The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abd-El-Ghaffar Join EGYCXO IoT Executive Roundtable
CAIRO, EGYPT – December 6th, 2021–Showcase Egypt, The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Showcase Egypt have joined forces to participate in the “EGYCXO’22 Executive Roundtable”.
The event supported by Dr. Khaled Abd-El-Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, aims to empower students, educators, universities, and fresh graduates with the most in-demand skills required for Egypt’ Future IoT ecosystems.

Dr. Hesham Farouk Ali Abd-El-Hafez, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation, led the discussion in early November, setting the path for a successful relationship.
“We’ve formulated a long-term strategic plan and vision that will guide us toward the MOHESR 2030. At the same time, given the phenomenal growth of connected devices in the Internet of Things, the issue of how higher education supports educators amidst challenges facing IoT becomes a key consideration in teaching and learning.” Dr. Hesham Farouk, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation, stated.

Dr. Khaled Abd-El-Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, affirmed Egypt’s keenness to support cooperation and partnership with global partners, especially in Science, Technology, and Innovation, paving the way for more achievement and reinforcing the partnership between Egypt and the world.
The event is part of the Showcase Egypt skilling initiative to upskill 2.5 million Egyptian Entreupenures with the skills needed in a COVID-19 economy.
The Ministry aims to discuss venues to equip more than 125,000 students in Egypt with soft skills and employability abilities as part of this partnership.

Reimagining higher education post COVID-19
When the pandemic hit, many Egyptian colleges and universities moved quickly to remote learning and other delivery models, launched affordability initiatives, and found creative ways to support their students. About Dr. Khaled Abd-El-Ghaffar
Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, Egypt
Prof. Khaled Abd-El-Ghaffar is currently the Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, Egypt. He is a professor of Oral Medicine, Oral Diagnosis, Oral Radiology and Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry, Ain-Shams University.
Dr. Khaled Abd-El-Ghaffar held many positions before the current one; he was vice president for postgraduates Studies & Research & Dean of Faculty of Dentistry Ain-Shams University. He accomplished a lot of honors and recognitions.
Today, Prof. Khaled Abd-El-Ghaffar is entrusted with Egypt’s Education Vision 2030. He sets the top priorities and ambitions to reform Higher Education in Egypt.
MOHESR’ focus is improving Higher Education’s quality and relevance to match the needs of new learning technologies and human resource development. In parallel to improving the quality and relevance of technical education by establishing new technical universities.
Accordingly, another initiative step is to enhance the internationalization of Higher Education and strengthen cooperation with other countries by issuing the new by-laws for the establishment and organization of the International Branch Campus in Egypt.
Furthermore, he played a proactive and sensitizing role in defining the National STI Strategy of Egypt, in line with Egypt Vision 2030.

EGYPT IOT OLYMPIAN COMPETITION EXTENDS DEADLINE TO ALLOW MORE APPLICANTS TO PARTICIPATE
CAIRO, EGYPT – November 29th, 2021–Showcase Egypt, After receiving many requests, the deadline to submit entries for the IoT Olympian Competition organized with the EGYCXO has been extended to 11:59 PM on Saturday, the 22nd of January 2022.
“Students and Educators have engaged with the Organization, and we have listened. Informed by their growing interest in the competition, we have decided to extend the closing date beyond the original deadline to include those who could not submit in time,” said Dr. Mona Nasr, Executive Academic Relations Director.
Egyptian universities, educators, and students wishing to participate in the EGYCXO’s Annual IoT Olympian Competition will have a new deadline until Thursday, the 22nd of August, to apply.
The deadline extensions come after several requests from participants who have been asking for a deadline extension of the closing date for the IoT Olympian competition.
The competition officially closed on Thursday, the 28th of October, but we will now see entries being accepted until the 22nd of January to accommodate late submissions.
Egyptian students, educators, and graduates are invited to design and develop an original project on the use of IoT technologies to support various industries.
Undergraduate, applied science students and techpreneurs from around the land are welcomed to compete for cash prizes and present their IoT solutions to a panel of technical entrepreneur judges in the 2021 IoT Olympian Competition!
The winners will be announced at the EGYCXO Gala held in Cairo on the 22nd of February 2022. Three winners will receive free admission to attend and present their projects at the executive roundtable [IoT Olympian Competition | Facebook].
Since the competition announcement, Ligia Hanna from elnco | Canada Event Management Team says that the comity has received more than 200 entries from techpreneurs people across the country. “Based on the submissions we have received already, it is clear that young people are interested and are already conversing about the future of IoT in Egypt. Through applications submissions, we are delighted that the young entrepreneurs have taken the initiative and articulated thoughts on the future of IoT in Egypt.
Projects should promote discussion and increase awareness of how individuals, organizations, and societies can effectively use IoT technologies in different industries. Categories include:

New Deadline! Project abstracts are open for submission until the 22nd of January 2022 and must be submitted by an Egyptian student in conjunction with one qualified educator, education institute, or local startup organization.
There is no upper limit to a team’s size. In the first selection round, shortlisted teams will be invited to implement their project proposals and submit digital media presentations by the 2nd of February 2022. They will present and demonstrate the implementation details and outcomes of the project.
A jury board will evaluate the submissions based on innovation, commercial potential, technological feasibility, and solution sustainability. The jurors will select the TOP IoT for each category, publicly announced and posted for public votes.
The top three selected will be invited and sponsored to attend the executive roundtable in Cairo, presenting their projects to the participant. The finalist teams will also be encouraged to visit local universities and institutions and attend side events.

Showcase Egypt is expanding its nine-strong Directors’ with the appointment of Dr. Mona Nasr of the business to boost education leadership’s skills, knowledge, and capabilities for a one-year term, effective October 21, 2021.

Who is Prof. Mona Nasr?
Prof. Mona Nasr is bilingual and holds an M.Sc. degree in information systems from the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Helwan University, Egypt, 2000. Ph.D. degree in Information Systems from Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Helwan University, Egypt, 2006.
Prof. Nasr is currently the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Helwan University HU, Scientific Computing Center Manager at HU, Head of Information Systems Department at Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Helwan University FCAI-HU. Former Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Environment at FCAI-HU and Former Vice Dean at the Canadian International College (CIC), El Sheikh Zayed Campus.
Prof. Nasr is a well-known speaker with a charismatic presence at academic conferences and seminars, university and public lectures, and radio and television programs in his area of expertise. She published many articles in international journals and conferences, and she is an active reviewer for numerous international journals.
